I just cannot believe that McCain didn't learn a few things, all that time as POW being tortured and all.
He wants power. And he's willing to dupe the whackos that fund/installed Bush insofar as to get this power. This is why he voted as he did with the MCA and this is why he sucks their ass to get the $$ and this is why he turned the other cheek after being swiftboated by Rove in '00.. He knows dems already hate him because he's a repug, so what does he have to lose then with this? He's ingratiating himself with Bush's "base".
But surely deep inside is the man who endured the horrors of being a POW. It just strikes me as a difficult notion to accept that one could just "forget" that experience, what it is like to be on the extreme-end of injustice and suffering. Isn't this the kind of thing that forges inside a man a fuller, compassionate, and humble human being?
McCain will use Bush against himself and once in the presidency, will stop playing pretend and do what needs to be done to get our military back on track.
I'd really like to believe this, anyway...
It is pretty hard to keep the faith (that I once had, long ago) in McCain while observing things like this, though...
Can a POW war-hero "sell-out"? I guess this is the question..
